What are the decorations made of
Made from a well known brand of air dried modelling clay.
This clay is air dried not kiln dried, so not suitable for outdoors.
Because they are clay and handmade the surface may have imperfections.
Single sided, though can be painted on reverse if desired.
They may contain traces of talc - if you have an allergy to talc, please do not purchase.
How do you make them
Each one is individually handmade by myself, in my Derbyshire studio.
- Roll out the clay, then stamp them out using a cookie cutter
- If a pattern is required stamp it in
- Dry for around a week
- Once dry, drill a hole if required
- Then a good sanding and wipe down
What if I need a larger amount
Please contact me to discuss your requirements and amounts, so I can make you more!
Clay decorations normally take around ten day to two weeks to make.
Caring for your decoration
Some people choose to leave them untouched and some paint and decorate them, either way they are an indoor decoration and can not withstand damp/wet conditions.
If they do get damp the unpainted/unsealed clay area may turn a shade of yellow, pink or purple, as they re-dry out over time this pigmentation/colour will fade, it does not effect painting them.
If they get fully wet they will loose their integrity and become soft (though from my tests this does take a LONG time).
Do not place in direct sunlight or near a heat source, as this may damage it.
Keep away from naked flames, as some parts maybe flammable - i.e. the hanging cord which I supply with each decoration.
Safety
They may contain traces of talc - if you have an allergy to talc, please do not purchase.
Keep out of the reach of babies, very young children and pets (or supervise), as your decoration may have sharp edges or parts which could break off with force/damage and become a choking hazard.
Do no eat, if this happens please seek medical advise.
Hanging cord could also be a coking hazard around young children and pets.
Craft activity not a toy.
